PEABODY, MASS. (WHDH) - Police are searching for a suspect who allegedly fled the scene of a shooting in Peabody, according to state police.

State police said the incident started with a shooting in the area of Lynnfield Street in Peabody Friday evening.

According to state police, two people fled to Lynn. Lynn Police spotted the suspected vehicle and began a pursuit, which led back to Peabody in the area of Route 114.

The suspected vehicle stopped at Kappy’s Liquor Store on Route 114 in Peabody. Police said, one of the suspects exited the car and ran into a nearby marsh behind the liquor store.

The other suspect then resumed fleeing in the car.

Massachusetts State Police patrols and Air Wing assisted in the search for the suspect in the marsh. Lynn officers found the suspect with the assistance of the Air Wing and took him into custody.

The investigation for the remaining suspect is ongoing.
