EASTON, MASS. (WHDH) - A worker in or near a manhole in Easton was seriously injured after he was struck by a car Wednesday morning.
According to police, the worker was with a private company performing sewer work on Foundary Street when the man was struck by a passing car. Police received a call at 10:23 a.m. reporting a pedestrian had been struck by a car in the Lansdowne Village Condominium complex.
Thomas Hannan, 45 of Franklin, suffered chest injuries. He was taken to Rhode Island Hospital via medical helicopter.
Police said Hannan, who works for Septic Preservation Services out of Maine, was conducting maintenance on a septic drain in the parking lot.
The woman who hit the worker, 72-year-old Suzanne, said she called 911 after the crash. According to police, she was attempting to pull into a parking space when she hit Hannan. Suzanne is a resident of the condominium complex.
“I just didn’t see him, I was pulling in, so I was going very slowly, probably five to ten miles an hour, and I hit something,” she said. “I immediately stopped the car, i jumped out and I saw him on the ground, so he couldn’t have been standing.”
