A bad car crash left one person dead and two other people injured Tuesday morning in Milford, New Hampshire.

The crash happened on Route 101 and left a Nissan Rogue stuck on the guardrail over Route 13. The guardrail held strong and the vehicle did not fall before police were able to have it taken down. The road itself was closed for more than four hours.

Police said the driver of the Nissan was trying to pass another car in an area where passing is allowed. While attempting to pass the car, police said the driver of the Nissan crashed into a Kia driven by a man with his wife in the passenger seat. The woman was pronounced dead at the scene and her husband was injured. The Nissan’s driver was seriously injured and taken to the Dartmouth Hitchcock Medical Center.

The crash is under investigation and police are interviewing witnesses. Police said alcohol was not involved but speed may have been a factor.
