Walkers and runners participated in the "Step Up for Colleen" 5K Sunday, in memory of a slain Danvers teacher.
The third annual 5K was held in Andover in memory of Colleen Ritzer, a math teacher at Danvers High School. Race organizers said more than 4,000 people attended the race Sunday, including Ritzer’s parents and two siblings.
Ritzer was murdered by one of her students back in 2013. The 24-year-old taught math at Danvers High School and was pursuing a graduate degree at Salem State College.
