The Red Sox player sent a message Friday to the young boy, named Maverick, who is in the hospital recovering from heart surgery. Ortiz told the boy to stay positive and he promised he would hit a home run for him. Ortiz delivered by hitting a home run in the game on Friday.
Maverick responded with his own video, thanking Ortiz for the home run. He also said he hopes to get better soon so he can visit him at Fenway Park.
