The biggest name in the UFC has raised more than a few eyebrows with his most recent outburst on Twitter.
Conor McGregor, the gregarious Irish superstar who has taken the fighting world by storm, hinted at retirement in a tweet that has raised questions as to how serious the sport’s iconic figure really was.
I have decided to retire young.
Thanks for the cheese.

McGregor is a headlining figure on all of his fights, but a recent loss to Nate Diaz at UFC 196 in March raised questions about his invincibility (McGregor was fighting at a higher weight class.)
McGregor is currently scheduled to fight Diaz in a rematch at UFC 200 on July 9.
Prior to his loss to Diaz, McGregor was on a torrid win streak, including five consecutive knockout wins. His most recent victory, a highly touted bout between Jose Aldo, ended with McGregor knocking out his challenger in just 13 seconds.
But against the bigger Diaz, McGregor seemed to struggle landing significant strikes, and a mistake gave Diaz an opening that ended with Diaz winning via submission.
Earlier in April, McGregor was ringside for a fight featuring friend and fellow fighter Joao Carvalho, a fight that ended with Carvalho dying following his injuries sustained in the ring.
The fight clearly upset McGregor, who posted about the loss on Facebook.
That post, and Carvalho’s death, have led to speculation that McGregor’s most recent tweet may have some merit.
But as recently as yesterday, McGregor was posting training pictures. And McGregor is a notorious showman who may have posted the cryptic message simply to generate headlines.
