SWAT crews in armored cars and full gear descended upon a Woburn neighborhood after police received a worrisome 911 call Friday night.
“We received a live phone call at the Woburn police station from an individual that said he had just shot his mother, and was not going to go out of the house easily,” Woburn Police Chief Robert Ferullo said.
30 SWAT team members and 15 Woburn police officers responded to the apartment complex on Westgate Drive, and determined the call was a hoax.
The Woburn call is one of several that came into police departments across the state Friday night.
Ferullo said the call was unlike the robocall bomb threats to area schools as of late.
Woburn police have handed over the investigation to state police.
Police in Natick, Reading and Wilmington said they also dealt with similar incidents. There is no word if all these incidents are connected.
In Natick, the IMAX theater at Jordan’s got a call that there was a bomb and armed gunman inside. Many customers were evacuated, and it turned out to be nothing.
Police in Reading also got a hoax called aimed at the Jordan’s Furniture store there.
