The Massachusetts Department of Revenue wants to remind taxpayers the deadline to file their state and federal individual income tax returns is Tuesday, April 19th; a four-day extension from the typical April 15th filing date.
The extension is due to Emancipation Day, observed in Washington, D.C. on April 15, and Patriots’ Day on April 18th here in the Bay State.
in a release on Thursday, Dept. of Revenue Acting Commissioner Kevin Brown said taxpayers can file state taxes, check the status of refunds, and find any additional information needed before the April 19th deadline.
The DOR also suggested that most convenient way to file taxes is through the e-file feature, saying that 93% of the returns thus far have been e-filed. Those that paper filed can expect a wait of up to six weeks for their refunds.
The DOR is encouraging taxpayers to visit their website for e-filing, helpful tips, and resources to make filing taxes as hassle-free as possible.
