A person was shot and wounded at a firing range at Fort Devens on Wednesday. 

The person was taken by medical helicopter to the UMass Memorial Medical Center. 

Police are now investigating at the US Army Base. 

According to a State Police spokesperson, the incident was a non-fatal shooting that involved police instructors that were not affiliated with the State Police. 

The incident happened just before noon. 

The extent of the person’s injuries are unknown at this time. 

A spokesperson for the Municipal Police Training Committee released a statement Wednesday afternoon: 

“Earlier today at the firearms training range at Devens, a Municipal Police Training Committee (MPTC) firearms instructor was unintentionally shot by a fellow instructor. The injured instructor was flown to UMass Memorial Medical Center where he is reported in stable condition. No recruits were on the range at the time. An investigation is now underway.”
