Third week in a row where a small storm drops out of Canada carves a path across the Ohio Valley Then explodes into a larger storm offshore and affects our weather in doing so. If this settles into a pattern over the next 3-4 weeks……get you shovels and plows ready. Until then, get your umbrella’s ready.
First up is Halloween and I don’t see any tricks on tap. Despite a bunch of clouds through the day, we stay dry as temps reach the low 50s. We’ll hold onto the clouds all evening & there will be the risk of the stray sprinkle at the coast but otherwise it’s dry. the reason for that sprinkle at the coast is a developing northeast wind (scraping moisture off the Atlantic). This breeze will also add a cool feel to the air but not bone-chilling cold with temps in the mid/upper 40s.
The weekend is windy & cold. Simple as that. In terms of storm deets, here is what I’m thinking:
* Rain develops noon Saturday and moves out around 8pm Saturday night. Most towns pick up between .5″ & 1.0″ of rain.
* Wind is the primary concern with this storm as coastal areas feel the brunt of the wind.
* Strongest wind gusts occur between 8pm Saturday & 8pm Sunday. Wind gusts between 25-40 mph are likely along the coast with wind gusts near 50mph likely on the Cape/Islands during the day on Sunday.
* Sunday is dry but the sky is loaded with clouds.
* Wind chill temps around Faneuil Hall for Mayor Menino’s public wake on Sunday are in the 30s.
* Wind chill temps down at Gillette Sunday afternoon are also in the 30s.
Sunny & chilly conditions are in New England on Monday.
