A rescued baby seal is on the road to recovery at the National Aquarium in Baltimore.

The seal, named Megatron for the Transformer, was rescued in late February. Staff at the National Aquarium said he was found emaciated and dehydrated and had some lesions on his skin.

The animal rescue team is now caring for Megatron and within a week, he has gained 5 pounds. Jennifer Dittmar, of the National Aquarium, said it is very encouraging.

"It’s really important for us to provide this resource to care for these animals," said Dittmar. "We do see a lot of cases, human interaction cases."

The rescue team hopes Megatron can recover enough by April so they can release him back into the wild.
