A former Lakeville firefighter was in court Monday, where he was charged with raping an underaged man.

Thomas Dunlevy, 51, is accused of supplying the underaged man with alcohol and then sexually assaulting him. He was also charged with assault and battery and intimidation of a witness.

Dunlevy allegedly raped the victim at a Wareham campground and at his house back in 2014, when the victim was under 21. According to court documents, Dunlevy’s wife walked in on her husband and the victim at their house.

Officials said Dunlevy worked at the fire department for 20 years until he resigned earlier this month during an internal investigation.

"It’s been upsetting but as a town and as the fire department, we will move forward and we will do our jobs," said Lakeville Fire Chief Dan Hopkins.

Dunlevy is being held on $25,000 cash bail.
