Six people were treated for smoke inhalation after crews knocked down a fire in a building on the Boston University campus on Friday, according to the Boston Fire Department.

Fire officials said one firefighter, two BU police officers and three students suffered non-life threatening injuries.

The MBTA suspended service on the B line between Kenmore and Packards Corner due to the fire. Service has since been restored.

No alternative bus service was provided due to street closures in the area.

According to the Boston Fire Department, they responded to the fire around 8:50 a.m. Friday.

The fire department said the fire was on the third floor of the School of Communication in a recording studio.

Professor Anne Donohue, the students’ advisor, said the students were in the sealed studio, smelled smoke and opened a door. As soon as the door opened, smoke blew in, she said. The students then fled the building.

Damage is estimated at $500,000. The university expects to reopen the building on Monday.
