A man is facing a series of charges after he allegedly got high on synthetic marijuana and attacked three police officers.

Jacob Randle, 19, of Concord, is facing charges of assault with intent to murder, assault and battery on a police officer causing bodily injury, simple assault and battery on a police officer, assault and battery on a person 60 years or older and malicious destruction of property over $250, according to police.

On Wednesday morning, police received a call that somebody was acting erratically inside a home on Baker Avenue.

When police arrived, a fight erupted between Randle and the officers, according to police.

Concord Police Chief Joseph O’Connor said Randle tried to choke one officer and push another one off of a stairway.

O’Connor said Randle, who is 5’11" and weighs 270 pounds, was high on synthetic marijuana, according to police.

O’Connor said the marijuana caused Randle to suffer hallucinations and become violent. Police say Randle threatened to kill the officers.

Officers attempted to use tasers to subdue Randle, but to no avail.

O’Connor said Randle did not respond to officers’ command or taser shocks immediately.

However, because of the taser shocks, officers had the chance to get Randle on the ground and control him, O’Connor said.

Before officers got Randle to the ground, he had run out of the house and into a police cruiser, according to police.

One officer suffered minor injuries. Two other officers were taken to a hospital.

"One of the officers had a broken nose and lacerations to the head. The other officer had injured his neck [when Randle] got his hands around his neck. The third officer had some scratches and some small lacerations on his face," O’Connor said.

Police say Randle was taken to Emerson hospital to be treated and assessed. Randle is being held at the Middlesex jail pending his arraignment, police said.

Randle’s mother, Julie, said, "It really was not him speaking. That was the drugs speaking, saying I am going to kill you."
