Police are investigating a bank robbery in Fairhaven.

At at around 4:30 p.m. on Wednesday, officers responded to a report of a bank robbery at the Santander Bank branch on Huttleston Avenue, police said.

Police said a man walked into the bank as he was talking on a cell phone and approached the teller. The man passed a note demanding money from the teller. The note said the man had a gun, police said.

The teller gave the man an undisclosed amount of cash, police said. The man fled the bank and never displayed a gun.

Police described the suspect as a man in his 20s, with brown hair. Police say he was wearing a grey hooded sweatshirt, gloves, jeans and a Red Sox cap.

He was also wearing large sunglasses.
