A former Harvard University employee has pleaded guilty to using a university credit card to buy personal items.
Shawn Bunn, 45, of Waltham, pleaded guilty on Monday to charges of false entry in corporate books, larceny and uttering of forged documents in connection with using his Harvard University employee credit card to pay for personal items, according to the Middlesex County District Attorney’s Office.
A judge sentenced Bunn to two years in prison with 3 months to be served. He was also sentenced to 10 years of probation and was ordered to pay $80,000 in restitution to the university.
Bunn, a 17-year employee of the university who worked in a computer lab, used university money to pay for personal purchases totaling $80,000, according to the DA’s office.
Authorities say Bunn was issued a college credit card to make work-related purchases but instead used it to buy several Apple products for personal use. Authorities say they found Lego sets, a table saw, a compost tumbler and iPads inside his home.
Authorities say he also charged more than 200 DVDs and 100 CDs along with other items on the university credit card.
