After weighing the pros and cons of allowing a movie crew to recreate the shooting between Watertown Police and the Boston Marathon bombers, the town has respectfully declined.
In a statement released Friday afternoon, the Watertown Office of the Town Manager said the movie scene was "not in the best interest of Watertown."
A group making a movie based on the Boston Marathon bombings wanted to recreate the shootout in Watertown that happened between police officers and the Tsarnaev brothers.
Location managers for the film "Patriots Day" had reportedly asked people who live on Laurel Street to allow them to recreate the gun battle.
Movie producers from CBS Films reportedly met with residents earlier this month to ask permission, saying filming would be going until midnight some nights, and there would be stimulated gunshots during that time.
No one on Laurel Street who spoke to 7News said they did not want the shoot to happen. But not everyone is on board – the homeowner who owned the boat where Dzhokhar Tsarnaev was found in declined to be involved in the movie.
"Patriots Day" stars Boston native Mark Wahlberg. He’s cast as a Boston officer who was in command at the finish line when the bombs went off in 2013.
Preparations for the film will begin in late April, just after the third anniversary of the bombing and manhunt. Actual filming of the movie is expected to begin in May.

Upon further reflection, filming the recreation of the Watertown Shootout when police encountered the Boston Marathon Bombers at the intersection of Dexter Avenue and Laurel Street is not in the best interest of Watertown.
Therefore, CBS Films will proceed with identifying another location to film the Shootout outside of the Town of Watertown.
