Wow!  Broken sleep for many as big time summer-like boomers produced downpours, plenty of thunder and lightning and strong, damaging wind gusts.  With so much wind just off the surface, it was easy for thunderstorms to bring some of those strong wind gusts down, producing downed trees, tree limbs and power lines in many spots.  A wind gust of 83mph was reported on the top of Blue Hill and a 69mph gust reported in Boston!

As the line of storms march east, we’ll dry out from 5-7am from west to east.  Last locations to see the storms move in and end will be the Cape and Islands. With such an early shutdown time in Boston (by 6am), most of the commute won’t be affected by the rain.  However, careful driving around this morning. With those winds cranking overnight, plenty of tree branches and yard debris has slide onto the streets.

Temps start in the 60s this morning and drop into 50s this afternoon.  Another passing shower is possible this afternoon/evening but no more severe weather is expected. A wind advisory continues across Southeast Mass until 7pm for gusts to 50mph.

It’ll turn cooler and windy Friday and it’s a cool start for the weekend as temps dip to near 10 in the suburbs by Saturday morning.  We’ll near 40 Saturday afternoon and in the 50s again Sunday and Monday.  Friday-Monday look dry.
