Major flooding in Revere caused serious problems on Monday.

The city’s floodgates were frozen open and high tide waters came rushing in and now homeowners are concerned.

Residents woke up on Sunday morning to a thick sheet of ice after ocean water spilled over into homes near Arcadia Street. The water froze in the sub-zero temperatures.

Residents also said their water pipes froze.

Residents were concerned that a grate meant to catch trash under Route 1 was clogged, causing the water to back up.

City leaders say the floodgates are now closed and that they will investigate the issue.
