A fueling van struck the wing of a parked JetBlue plane just after 6 a.m. on Friday morning.
Part of a wing on the plane was damaged and the aircraft was taken out of service.
Massport Fire and Rescue and the Massachusetts State Police responded to the incident.
Massport released the following statement on the incident:
"Just after 6 a.m. this morning, a van struck a section of a parked JetBlue plane. There were no injuries. The plane did sustain damage and has been taken out of service."
According to a passenger on the Tampa-bound flight, ‘there was a big jolt that moved the plane up and down. The captain jumped up and originally said they thought it was a landing gear collapse, but quickly realized they’d been hit.’
The passenger said that ‘the issue was the truck driver got out and the vehicle re-engaged and rolled forward, or was never in park. The baggage crew working the flight worked fast to stop the truck from rolling further and causing more damage.’
The cause of the incident remains under investigation.
