The 3-year-old boy who was found unresponsive in a Roxbury home on Sunday has died, according to Boston Police.

The boy was rushed to a hospital on Sunday after he was found in respiratory distress in a home on Alpine Street at around 10 p.m.

The boy was visited by the state Department of Children and Families just three days before he was found unresponsive. It is reported he was doing fine at the time of the visit. Police are investigating the incident but not have confirmed details.

DCF is also investigating the incident and have taken custody of another baby in the home.

The medical examiner has yet to rule on a cause of death.

Mayor Marty Walsh said he wants answers from both DCF and the Boston Police about what happened to the boy. He also stressed that anyone who suspects there is something wrong with any child needs to speak up to keep situations like this from happening.

Gov. Charlie Baker said he has been briefed on the case.
