Two people were held without bail Monday in connection with the fatal shooting of 19-year-old man in Everett in January.

Jose Vasquez Ardon, 17, and Cristian Nunez-Flores, 17, both of Everett, were arraigned on a charge of murder Monday in Malden District Court.

Judge Lee Johnson ordered Ardon and Nunez-Flores were held without bail and were ordered to have no contact with the victim’s family or the witnesses in the case.

The next hearing is scheduled for March 1.

On Jan. 2, 19-year-old Omar Wilfredo Reyes allegedly received messages from Ardon asking him to meet up. Reyes agreed to meet Ardon but reportedly told a friend he was concerned about the meeting.

Around 12 a.m on Jan. 3, Everett Police responded to a report of an injured man under the Tileston Street Bridge behind Carter Street. Police found a man suffering from a gunshot wound to the head. They estimated Reyes was shot around 10:30 p.m. He was transported to Massachusetts General Hospital where he died from his injuries a couple of days later.

Ardon was arrested in Revere and Nunez-Flores was arrested in Malden on Saturday, January 30.

According to police, evidence suggests the two defendants may be affiliated with the gang MS-13.
