Crews freed a cement truck driver on Friday night after power lines fell on his truck in Roslindale.

The power lines came down on the truck as the driver was on his way home.

"The window was halfway down, the sparks flew in, I hit the bakes and ducked," said driver Joe Smith.

Smith said the truck caught on the lines and he heard the crack of a nearby utility pole. He was trapped inside the truck for hours.

Neighbors said they lost power.

Smith said he quickly called for help and stayed in the truck.

Crews removed the pole before they could get Smith out of the truck.

"When you are on a street, they are not supposed to be that low. You don’t expect that to happen," Smith said.

The pole will be replaced.

Police say they are investigating the incident to determine whether charges will be filed.
