Cleaning crews were on the scene at Boston Public Library Wednesday morning after the library was vandalized.

The graffiti spanned the entire stretch of one of the walls on the building at Copley Square.

The vandalism was first discovered around 11:30 p.m. Tuesday.

Police were called to the scene but by the time they arrived the suspect or suspects were gone.

One person who uses the library every day said he was very upset

"’I’m surprised to see that,I really am surprised, that’s a shame," library-user Benjamin Clay said. "I don’t see why certain people should do things like that. It should be a nice place where people to come, read their books, sit down, it should be like that. Not all this."

Police continue to investigate the incident.
