A pit bull that was abandoned in the Virgin Islands nearly five years ago has found a new home in Worcester.
Moose, a 6-year-old pit bull, spent 1,628 days at the animal care center of St. John before Christine Burke and her husband, Bob, adopted the dog.
The dog joins the couple’s three daughters, Ameila, Bella and Carissa, who recently lost a dog.
Moose rode a private jet from St. John to New York and then took a limousine to Boston during the recent snow storms.
On Tuesday, the Burke family went to the Worcester Animal Rescue League to pick up Moose.
“I feel like I already knew him, just through social media,” said Christine Burke. “We just want to get back to regular life with the dog.”
