Two people have been arrested following an armed robbery in Norwood and a car chase in Walpole.

Norwood Police reported an armed robbery Thursday evening at Central Market in South Norwood.

According to police, a suspect was seen getting into a pickup truck with a plow.

Norwood Police said Walpole Police were able to locate a car matching the description Norwood Police had sent out after the robbery.

Officers stopped the car, but the suspect drove away, leading several Walpole Police vehicles on a car chase through East Walpole.

The suspect attempted to get onto Route 1 in an attempt to reach Route 95, according to Walpole Police, but police were able to block the entrance to the highway.

Walpole Police said the car attempted to take a turn on to Kendall Street from Route 27 and lost control, crashing into a police cruiser and then some trees.

The driver was detained, but the passenger fled on foot.

Officers set up a perimeter and caught the second suspect a short distance away.

The driver was transported to the hospital under arrest and should be OK. A police officer was also injured when he hit a steering wheel but he should be ok.

Police say they found a gun under the truck as well as cash taken from the storm.

The truck belongs to a local landscaping company.

The owner tells 7News that an employee took the truck when he wasn’t supposed to.
