One person is dead after a car struck a pedestrian on Route 9 near Prospect Street in Framingham on Wednesday. 

According to Framingham Police, Patrick Stratton, age 25 of Framingham suffered multiple injuries to the head and torso. Fire and EMS personnel responded to the accident and determined that Stratton was deceased. 

Following an investigation by officers, Jason Theriault, 33 of Framingham, was arrested. He has been charged with operating under the influence of alcohol with a second offense, and motor vehicle homicide by reckless negligent operation. 

Theirault was arraigned today in Framingham District Court and bail was set at $5,000. 

Prosecutors say Theriault admitted he had been drinking. 

Theriault’s attorney the crash was a "tragic accident." 

The joint investigation by Framingham Police and Massachusetts State Police is ongoing.
