Police are investigation after the body of a man was found at a gas station in Yarmouth on Monday. 

On Jan. 11 around 5:55 p.m., Yarmouth Police were dispatched to SavOn Gas Station on Route 6A in Yarmoutport for a report of a missing person. 

Police met with the reporting party, who said his friend Jody T. Ashkenazi, 55 of Rt. 6A in Yarmouthport, was missing. 

According to the friend, he dropped Ashkenazi off at nearby Gray’s Beach between 2:30 p.m. and 3 p.m. with an understanding that he would call for a ride in approximately one hour. 

After about three hours had gone by and the friend had still not heard from Ashkenazi, he called police. 

Police searched the boardwalk, marsh area, beach and parking area with negative results. 

Around 11:50 p.m., police found Ashkenazi unresponsive, approximately a quarter of a mile into the Callery-Darling Conservation area east of Center Street at the intersection of Alms House Road. 

Ashkenazi was pronounced dead at the scene with no apparent sign of criminal activity.
