A mother allegedly attempted to steal items from a Kohl’s store immediately after being arraigned on other charges, according to Salem Police.

At around 12:05 p.m. on Monday, police responded to the Kohl’s Department store after the store said it caught a mother and her two children shoplifting items from the store.

Loss prevention staff at the store said they saw the mom and kids take several items, go to the dressing rooms, remove the goods from their packaging and depart the store, according to police.

Police say the suspect, 33-year-old Adelaida Jordan, of Roxbury, Massachusetts, had just left the 10th Circuit Court in Salem after being arraigned on a felony charge of willful concealment, police said.

Police have charged Jordan with willful concealment, endangering the welfare of a child, breach of bail and false reports to law enforcement, police said.

Jordan’s daughter, 18-year-old Chabellie Cruz, was also charged with willful concealment, police said.

Jordan was held on $7,500 cash bail and Cruz was released on her own recognizance. Cruz will be arraigned on Feb. 16.

Jordan’s 8-year-old son was taken to family members, police said.
