The title of this weather blog is much like the Guns N’ Roses hit… It doesn’t really make sense… but it does.  Let me explain:  It’s only the beginning of October, but it feels like November rain this morning.  It’s cold outside, and it’s WINDY.  Don’t like it?  Don’t worry.  Just remember:

Nothin’ lasts forever
And we both know hearts can change
And it’s hard to hold a candle
In the cold November rain

You’re with me now, right?  No?  No worries.  A stalled front just to our SE coupled with a NE wind is continuing the weather "squeeze play" on the Bay State.  If you didn’t know any better, it feels like a Nor’Easter out there.  I’ll just tell you now, an umbrella won’t cut it because the winds will take it out of the game.  It’s a "dress like a Gorton fisherman" day.

A pretty consistent drizzle/light rain will continue in SE Mass for the better part of the day, with gusty winds cranking in from the northeast.  PLUS, it’s going to be chilly and thus, raw.  Highs will be in the low to mid 50s today, with some of the coldest spots failing to get above the 50° mark.  Again – it feels more like November than the beginning of October.

Maybe that’s the bad news on this Friday – but here’s the good news:  Joaquin’s forecast track has consistently been moving out to sea, which means it’s looking less "uncertain" as the "cone of uncertainty" narrows.  It’s still worth watching through the weekend, though.  Even though it shouldn’t mean much (or anything, for that matter) for our weather early next week, Joaquin will still churn up the seas and could even still "graze" the Cape and Islands – a very slight chance of that happening – but again, worth watching.

This morning Joaquin is still a Category 4 storm, ripping through the Bahamian Islands.  It’s powerful, with maximum winds at 130mph and not really moving very quickly: still around 5mph… Just sitting over, and tearing apart the Bahamas.  HOWEVER, it appears that the storm has reached its peak intensity and has started to move more to the north.  Joaquin should move away from the Bahamas tomorrow morning and start tracking more quickly to the NE.  He’s still expected to remain a major hurricane (Cat 3+) through early Sunday.

So with Joaquin really out of our forecast, what does the weekend look like?  Still chilly!  Some early showers and gusty winds will be with us again for Saturday and clouds stick around for Sunday.  While we do stay in the 50s for the weekend, we will see temps rebound closer to "normal" next week with the sunshine making a comeback on Monday!  There’s still some beautiful fall weather to enjoy.
