A dispute over dog waste in one Chicago suburb has pitted neighbor against neighbor.

Now, one homeowner has retaliated in a very public, yet colorful way.

Bright shades of yellow, orange and purple have people on a friendly block seeing red.

Neighbors said residents in the home on the 400 block of Longfellow Avenue in Glen Ellyn added the very colorful edition about three weeks ago.

The reason behind the home’s unusual flair is a dispute over dog waste.

Residents said people are not picking up after their dogs.

After complaining about the stench all summer, other homeowners called authorities.

Glen Ellyn police ticketed a 55-year-old woman living inside the striped house for exceeding the maximum number of pets. Police said the woman had four dogs, one more than what’s allowed in the village.

The Dupage County Health Department also issued a notice of violation and ordered the homeowners to pick up all the dog feces by the end of the month.
