While many people know wearing high heels can be tough on feet, flip flops are also proving to be a problem.

Last year, 25,000 people went to the emergency room with flip flop-related injuries, the Consumer Product Safety Commission told NBC News.

From blisters to bacteria, to tripping and posture problems, there are many potential dangers.

Nearly 23 percent of women say their flip flops sometimes hurt their feet, according to a recent podiatric survey.

According to experts, many injuries are from having no support in the arch.

You don’t have to say farewell to flip flops just yet. Getting your muscles used to them will go a long way.

According to doctors, injuries to feet can turn into injuries to ankles, knees and hips.
