Fire crews responded to a home on Placid Road in Newton after reports of an explosion and fire.
Newton’s fire chief later confirmed there was not an explosion at the home but the fire was at the rear of the wood-framed home.
Fire officials did not immediately know the cause of the fire.
One firefighter was checked out for minor injuries.
