Ready to turn the page from Winter to Spring? I think most are, and at least from a celestial point of view, we do that as the Vernal Equinox occurs at 6:45PM today.  That’s when the sun is directly over the equator, marking the start of Spring, and just in time for that equinox, we have more snow to track.  Not exactly a shocker giving the winter we’ve had, huh?

Actually, it’s quite the celestial show out there today as we have the Vernal Equinox, a solar eclipse and a Supermoon!  The caveat for us in the United States… we don’t get to see the solar eclipse as they do in Europe, and the Supermoon is with a new moon, and not a full moon.  That means the Supermoon is not visible, however, it’ll cast a bigger silhouette over the sun during the solar eclipse (that we won’t see).  I digress.

So while we’re ready for Spring, Mother Nature sure isn’t, at least for us here in the Northeast as more snow gets set to move in.  Fortunately, I don’t expect in Southern New England as most towns only pick up a coating to an inch. Hardly a dusting falls north of Boston, while the best chance for an inch or two is across Buzzards Bay/Cape/Islands.  Patchy light snow starts late this afternoon (around 4 or 5pm) in Worcester County/far SE Mass and around sunset, a few flakes fly close to Boston.

Patchy light snow continues this evening as the brunt of this storm passes to our south.  Temps hover into the 20s, so it’s possible to have a few slick spots tonight, but major problems on the roads is not expected.

We’ll have a leftover snow/rain shower once and a while tomorrow, but with highs near 40 and some dry hours embedded in there, flakes won’t stick and for the most part, it’s an ok day.  Sunday will be bright, but windy as Arctic air charges back in here.

Have a great weekend!
