Three people were arrested Tuesday and Wednesday in connection with the shooting death of a 17-year-old in Charlestown in November 2014.

Officials said 17-year-old Ryan Morrisey and a 19-year-old were shot outside a convenience store on Main Street at around 9:40 p.m. on Nov. 5.

Julio Baez, 24, of Charlestown, was arrested and charged with murder and armed assault with intent to murder for the shooting of the 19-year-old. He was arraigned in Charlestown Municipal Court and held without bail.

Following his arraignment, Baez said he did not commit the crime. He is alleged to have driven a getaway car moments after his two friends fired shots.

Detectives also arrested Danilo Soto and Alexander Soto, who are expected to be arraigned on the same charges Thursday in Charlestown. They are not related.

The shooting was reportedly a case of mistaken identity. Detectives said Morrisey and his friend were outside a Main Street convenience store when two men walked by and opened fire.

“Wrong place, wrong time most of us were out here minutes before it happened. It could have been any one of us,” said Rourke Houlihan, a friend of Morrisey’s.

“I could have been shot, anyone could have been shot,” said another friend.

Friends of Morrisey wore the teen’s hockey number in his memory and said they were glad for the arrest.

“That was our boy, and for no reason at all. Justice has been served I feel. Hopefully,” said Houlihan.

BPD detectives and prosecutors from the Suffolk DA’s office gathered and analyzed surveillance images from the area and determined a connection to the three suspects.

Morrisey was a student at Saint Clement High School in Medford.
