Rob Gronkowski is giving a tip of the hat to the woman who made him that minion beanie that got so much attention during the parade.
Lisa Palma said she was sitting at home when she got a call from her son.
“He says ‘Gronk is wearing your hat.’ I said ‘no way,'” Palma said.
Yes way. The hat had everyone talking.
“We’re waiting to watch Gronk. Show Gronk. Show Gronk with the minion hat. Then I started getting texts of people showing me Gronk wearing the minion hat. I couldn’t believe it,” Palma said.
If you didn’t know, minions are animated creatures from the “Despicable Me” movies. They’re impulsive with little self-control that you can’t help but love.
Kind of like Gronk.
Lisa’s husband John tailgates in a VIP parking lot near Gronk. He met Gronk’s assistant who had the big guy autograph a jersey from him. So John wanted to repay the favor.
“When my husband had me make it for him, I’m like ‘when is he ever going to wear a minion hat,’” she said.
“Here they are today, Super Bowl the world is watching, and you see Rob Gronkowski wearing the custom hat my wife made, slugging down a beer,” John said.
Gronkowski wasn’t the only one sporting minion wear, other players had matching hats.
