Better late than never? #Oops and to think I was ahead of the game early this morning—now I know why! Anywho…..our weather pattern is still dry for the next several days. Unfortunately, the only exception is a fast moving weather system for the first half of the weekend. It’s a cool front that will slide through New England during the day—first only in the form of clouds and then some scattered showers tomorrow afternoon. Tomorrow morning will be dry for the kids soccer/field hockey games/yardwork but after 3pm plan on some showers to affect the region. By Sunday this cool front is long gone and so are the clouds/rain. The day will feature mostly sunny skies & a gentle breeze from Canada. Both weekend days will have cooler than normal temps—upper 60s—perfect for picking apples, mums & gords.

PS……….Aurora Watch! —-(some of this is from Pete last night)
Two big shots of magnetic energy were launched from the Sun Monday evening and Tuesday afternoon. They arrived in two waves–the first overnight & the second one arriving tonight. Prepare for some disruption to GPS and possibly cell service, but effects at this latitude will be less than at higher latitudes (over Central and Northern Canada). These flares rate at a X -class, the highest possible rating. However, since we are receiving a somewhat glancing blow from this mass of energy, the effects won’t be as intense as they could be. Astronomers are ranking the geomagnetic storm as a G3 (on a scale of 0-5). This ranks as a moderate to strong solar storm that will push the Aurora Borealis (Northern Lights) into the Lower 48 tonight and into the weekend.
Friday and Saturday night:
The best thing about auroras? You don’t need any special equipment. Just look to the north away from city lights….oh, and cross your fingers. These things are hardly predictable…or consistent.
