Summer where have you gone?! What a summer it was (technically still is for a few more weeks) with it being cooler and drier than normal. Only August was cool though as June & July saw temps pretty close to normal. Also of note was the lack of humidity across new England and this set us up with several comfortable nights for sleeping as well as pleasant afternoons for outdoor activities. the lack of humidity (and heat) also led to a lack of shower/thunderstorm activity which in turn caused the region to run dry. Ironically enough even with less than normal thunderstorm activity we still saw two tornadoes—Revere and last night’s EF0 in Worcester. Not to be outdone, the tropics gave us a scare on July 4th as Hurricane Arthur passed just southeast of Nantucket.

Looking into the first week of September we actually see a hot & humid pattern for New England. Temps for much of the week will easily reach the 80s–even close to 90 tomorrow & again on Saturday. The humidity is an issue today and again tomorrow but backs away temporarily midweek before returning late week. As for thunderstorms, it appears just an isolated storm possible late this afternoon, Tuesday evening and again Saturday evening.

Fall likely starts warmer than normal then we end it cold (November).

Enjoy you Labor Day!
