Newton Police looking for robbery suspects

Posted: Updated:
NEWTON, Mass. (WHDH) - Police in Newton released surveillance video of a man and woman leaving a consignment store that they were suspected of robbing.

Officials said the pair showed the store clerk a knife before tying her up and putting duct tape over her mouth.

Then, according to police, they dragged her into a back room and ran out with cash and jewelry.

"It's a brazen crime. It was 5 o'clock in the afternoon, there are people in that area, people do go into that store. It could have turned a lot worse if somebody did come in and maybe the people would have panicked the suspects," said Lt. Bruce Apotheker of the Newton Police Department.

The clerk was reportedly able to free herself and call for help. She was not badly hurt.

Anyone with information was asked to contact Newton Police at 617-796-2100.
