Final two weekends of summer are upon us. Instead of lamenting that it was too short (like we do every summer) I’ll tell you what it was meteorologically.

Pretty nice.

Slightly above normal in June and July, and over 2 degrees below normal for August. We had a stellar stretch of beautiful weekends from June to mid July (I think a lot of us forgot about that). And now with the weekend upon us, I am optimistic about the next two days.

Saturday is still struggling in the morning. We’re gray – and perhaps drizzly – through mid morning as the sun tries to pry through the cloud deck. With high pressure building in from Maine, the process will be slow but persistent. Eventually that will pay off with a brighter afternoon and a great looking Sunday.

Temperatures are still on the cool side tomorrow as a result of the northeast wind. That wind is lighter on Sunday, however, and with ample sun we’ll make a run for 80 in some spots on outer Rt. 2 and up in Southern New Hampshire.

The real heat will wait until next week. Summer’s comeback includes a few days in the mid 80s and a healthy supply of humidity.

Get the beach chairs ready and enjoy your weekend!
