Couple in 90s marries in assisted living facility

Posted: Updated:
GREEN BAY, Wis. (NBC) - A very special wedding was held at an unusual venue in Wisconsin where a couple in their 90s tied the knot at their assisted living facility.

"I was calling Bingo, and that's where I saw him every week," said Jean Rohloff, 91. "I took him to the music in the park and held my hand, and that's where it started."

She said like most marriages she and Jim Mongin started as friends but after two years and a date later, he asked her to marry him.

They live at the assisted living facility in Seymour. Both Rohloff and Mongin were married before but their spouses passed on. As Mongin says, why be alone now.

"We're both up in age, but we can enjoy each other," Mongin said, who believes that no matter what age you are looking for a partner, you can find someone.

"She's just the perfect woman. She's very kind, she's nice, she's always thinking of me, and I'm always thinking about her," Mongin said.

Before the wedding, the couple gave some advice to the younger people.

"Be good to one another," Rohloff said.

"Don't marry the first one that comes along," Mongin said.
