Afghanistan veteran reunited with service dog in Boston

BOSTON (WHDH) - A U.S. Marine Corps veteran and his trusty sidekick were reunited Wednesday months after serving together in Afghanistan.

Lance Cpl. Dylan Bogue worked side-by-side with Moxie, a black lab, searching for bombs in Afghanistan.

“[I'm] very happy, very grateful for the people that made this come together. It's really truly a dream,” Bogue said.

Moxie came to Boston to work with the MBTA Police after her tour of duty in the Middle East.

“We did a lot of security work leading up to the last Boston Marathon, we were all over that green line,” Chip Leonard, the MBTA officer who kept Moxie, said.

Bogue says Moxie was more than just a tool for the soldiers in Afghanistan.

“The thing that makes him special is the times we shared together and the comfort that he was, being there besides us,” he said.

A social media campaign was organized to help Bogue find out what happened to Moxie and an in-person reunion was soon to follow.

Once they made the decision to reunite it took two weeks to make that happen. As for officer who gave Moxie up, he'll be getting a new K9 this Friday.
