Hazy sun catapulted the temperatures well into the 80s today. Sea breezes cooled the coast/Capes/Islands this afternoon, however, keeping temps in the upper 70s to low 80s.

The sea breeze is a good topic for discussion in the coming days. More than just a cooling influence, it can and does trigger storms. This time of year, with water temps warming into the 60s, it can boost the humidity and provide just enough umph to lift the air and aid and abet thunderstorm development. I think our chances are good for a storm tomorrow and Thursday along and inside 128 with this localized feature. It’s for that reason that I have the 40 and 30 percent chance of rain on the Special Map.

Once the fully clears the Commonwealth Thursday afternoon, our storm threat diminishes dramatically. But we don’t have to wait that long for the air to dry out. There may be some subtle drop in humidity north and west of Waltham and Lexington tomorrow afternoon.

Humidity is down, high pressure is in and the sun will be fully involved in the late week forecast. Super weekend in store, so get out and enjoy….’cuz August is third only to October and September in daylight lost. A whopping 1 hour and 16 minutes of it.
