SAUGUS, Mass. (WHDH) -
An 18-year-old driver was charged with an OUI after an overnight chain reaction car crash in Saugus that caused damage to three cars and left one home seriously damaged.
Investigators said the crash happened just after midnight when the car that caused the crash went through a stop sign and kept going until it smashed into two cars parked in a driveway, pushing one of the parked cars into the home of Debbie and Ken Marshall.
Ken Marshall was sitting in his dining room minutes before the car crashed into the home.
"He got up, he said I'm going to brush my teeth; he was downstairs," she said.
Gas and electricity to the home were immediately shut off.
Investigators said all five people who were in the car that crashed were teens. Three people were transported to the hospital.
Firefighters told the couple the driver was going between 80 to 100 miles per hour. The force of the crash lifted an F-150 nearly a foot off of the ground and lodged it into the home.
Debbie said she is thankful her husband left the room when he did.
"That's all we can say is God had to be sitting on his shoulders," she said.
This is the fourth time a car has smashed into the Marshalls' home, but it is the first time the damage has been so extensive.
