Revere teen talks about being carjacked Friday

MELROSE, Mass. (WHDH) - Police officials in Melrose called off a SWAT action and search after spending several hours looking for two carjacking suspects Friday.

“We were getting numerous calls on open doors, garages, sheds. The most recent tip we had was an apartment complex just to the north near Wakefield. The officers went door to door unfortunately that lead did not pan out,” a police official said.

Police were looking for two men who ditched a car they had taken from a parking lot in Revere.

They were wearing black ball caps and were last seen in the area of Linden Road. Both suspects are white males. One was wearing pink and estimated at about 170 pounds. The other, who was seen wearing beige pants, was about 190 pounds, according to witnesses.

Police said the pair took a cab from Boston to the Northgate Mall and then skipped out on the fare. The two men then took an SUV with 15-year-old Evans Blanc sitting inside waiting for his mother, who was inside the Burlington Coat Factory.

“There was an issue with them not being able to pay their fair. Once they realized they weren’t able to pay their fare they got into a vehicle where there was a 15-year-old juvenile waiting for his mother with the keys in the vehicle,” Revere Police Lt. Amy O’Hara said.

It was believed the boy was driven about 7 miles to the Robinson Funeral Home in Melrose near Green Street. The boy reportedly heard the two men talk about visiting a family member in Melrose.

“They were apologizing at first, the man in the back said he was very sorry, he said he would pay me back,” Blanc said.

At one point Blanc even told the men he was going to call the police.

“I told them my phone has a GPS system in it and I can just call police and they can track it anytime and they got scared. So when I said that they were like 'lets drop off this kid,'" he said.
