Mosquito repellant? There's an app for that

Posted: Updated:
South Florida’s everglades are home to billions of mosquitoes, but no matter where you live, just one can drive you crazy.

But what if there were an app for that?

Well there is an app the anti-mosquito sonic repellant.

Scientists say this app is based on a theory that's been tried before. Emitting a high-end frequency that the developers of the app claim mosquitoes find "distasteful."

"Putting out a frequency that's supposed to imitate the male wing beat frequency and deter females 'cause it's the female that bites,” Mosquito Controller Glen-Paul Edson said.

Opinion among the swatting public is mixed, one saying: "impressed!! After 20 minutes not one mosquito!!!"

But another found: "this app will have no effect whatsoever on any species of mosquito."
