MIAMI (WSVN) -- Three people were arrested for allegedly laundering millions of dollars from the Miami-Dade Aviation Department, police said.

According to investigators, 45-year-old Elena Iglesias, her husband Lazaro Iglesias and her co-worker Malena Rodriguez diverted more than $2 million worth of airline vouchers intended for Miami-Dade Aviation.

Police said Elena, a 20-year account manager with International Airport Management, Inc., and her alleged accomplices used the money to pay off credit cards, mortgages, car loans and prepaid college accounts. Authorities said the alleged money laundering occurred between January 2012 and February 2014.

The suspects are each facing organized fraud and grand theft charges.
