Boston fans react to Red Sox trade deadline moves

Posted: Updated:
BOSTON (WHDH) - You'll still find Jon Lester and Jonny Gomes Sox jerseys on the wall of the souvenir shop but not for long since the team made a deal to trade the two players to the Oakland Athletics.

A lot of fans shopping there say the Sox made a good deal.

"I think it is a good move. You have to look at where we are at in the season right now. Maybe it is a good pick-up. A solid player. You know, build for the future," said John Kriha.

"You are basically looking at you might not have lester back next year if you don't resign him. You get something out of the deal. Cespedes good young hitter with a little bit of pop," said John Knight.
But Jon Lester has been such a big part of the Sox and their last two championships that some fans are still sad to see him go.

"I'm really upset that they are being traded. Because Lester was a good pitcher. Gomes is one of my favorite players," said Max Rubin.

Some fans are still hoping the jersey may still be worth keeping around.

"Maybe we can get him back. He may possibly come back next year if he doesn't sign elsewhere at the end of the year. We will see," said Brian Schimmoller.
