Human remains found in Duxbury

DUXBURY, Mass. (WHDH) - The Plymouth County District Attorney's office said that human remains were discovered in Duxbury Sunday evening.

Investigators say someone called police this morning about a suspicious box at the intersection of Alexander Way and Walker Road. A strange odor was coming from the box so Duxbury Police contacted the bomb unit and a hazmat team.

Officials found the remains inside the box.

A father and son spotted the suspicious box, saying that it seemed out of place.

"We get out and I move it over, thinking it's mulch, garbage. After moving it, we realized it's very heavy, it smells wrong, something's not right," said Chandler Rodriguez.

"The box was a U-Haul cardboard box. about 4x4, wrapped in cellophane, industrial, not something you're going ot pick up at Staples," said Hector Rodriguez.

The remains have been transported to the medical examiner's office for identification.

State Police assigned to the DA's office and Duxbury Police are assisting in the investigation.

Anyone with information is urged to contact investigators at (508) 923-4205 or (781) 934-5656.
