HIALEAH, Fla. (WSVN) -- Authorities are investigating after two elderly women were found dead inside a Hialeah home, Friday.

Hialeah Police said the two elderly victims were found deceased inside a home along 229 W. 45th St. in Hialeah, at around 1 p.m., after family members of the victims called police.

Detectives believe, by the time they arrived, the scene may have been several hours old.

Police said the two women are believed to be sisters. They said one of the bodies appeared to have physical trauma.

Several family members were found inside the home, along with a man believed to be the husband of one of the victims. However, it remains unknown if the people were inside the home at the time of the incident, or if they arrived after.

Maria, a woman who lives nearby, spoke about the victim's husband, "His sister was telling me that maybe because of his old age he was afraid to go outside, and he was always lonely," said the neighbor through a translator.

Detectives continue to investigate.
